Although the IT field is no longer new, there are still a number of myths that can discourage or mislead you when you decide to learn programming and work in the IT industry.
Multiple benefits or high salaries are some of the points that turn IT jobs into extremely attractive jobs. Here is some basic information you need to know if you want to know what an IT specialist is doing, what benefits this field of activity offers, and what training is required to practice.

What salary can you earn in IT?
According to the National Institute of Statistics, in May 2019, the average net nominal salary of an IT specialist was 6946 lei. Of course, these salaries differ depending on the role played, the experience in the field or the employer.
However, we present below an average salary, depending on the position held. A full-stack junior developer earns between 3770 and 7000 lei, while a senior can earn over 14,000 lei, according to the study conducted by Brainspotting Romania.
A front-end developer and a back-end developer have similar salaries, ranging between 3000 and 5000 lei for junior and middle positions and reaching over 9000 lei for senior developer positions.
The average net salary of a .NET developer is approximately 7000 lei, in the same amount being included a Java developer. A PHP developer earns, on average, about 5500 lei per month, and a Python developer, about 6500 lei. A C ++ programmer can earn an average net salary of about 6900 lei, while a Software Engineer earns, on average, 6700 lei.
An employee who holds the position of QA Analyst or IT Junior Tester earns between 2125 lei and 4956 lei, while a senior can earn between 6600 lei and 15580 lei, according to the same study prepared by Brainspotting Romania.
What are the benefits of a career in IT?
The main reason you should take your drive to specialize and work in IT is the large shortage of staff that the industry currently has. This makes the IT job market extremely competitive. In other words, if you really want to, you are passionate and willing to work to specialize, you will find a job without too much effort.
Some of the benefits that IT companies offer are health insurance at various private clinics and modern workspaces, with relaxation rooms, various games, areas for socializing and more. It is important to note that, in addition to the benefits provided by the Government, employers provide employees with many benefits that will enable them to enter the industry.
Here are the other benefits you can get if you choose a career in IT:
The salaries of those who work in IT are not taxable
With a simple search on OLX , you can identify hundreds of IT jobs. The offer is as rich as it is advantageous. In addition to the above average salaries that employers are willing to offer, it is good to know that employees in the IT sector are exempt from paying income tax.
In this sense, within article 60 of Law no. 227/2015 on the Fiscal Code, it is mentioned that taxpayers who earn income as a result of carrying out the activity of creating computer programs are exempted from paying income tax.
Joburi IT de acasă
Working from home has become more and more popular and appreciated among employees, due to the changes brought about by the pandemic. Many people say that working from the comfort of their own home has helped to improve their work-life balance.
If you are one of those who like to work from home, you should know that the IT field offers this facility, and the presence of employees in the office is no longer a mandatory criterion.
If you are looking for IT jobs that you can do from home, on OLX you can filter the information and identify only remote or flexible jobs.
What’s more, some IT jobs can give you the opportunity to travel. Thus, if you plan to see as many places in the world as possible without having to resort to rest leave, an IT job may be the answer. Many of the employing companies offer jobs that involve travel to various countries.
Also, with a laptop and a good internet connection, you can go on your own and work in different cities of the world, without affecting your performance at work.
IT courses with employment
Many of the IT training providers have established partnerships with certain companies in order to facilitate the placement of students on the labor market immediately after completing the course.
Through various methods, schools try to increase students’ confidence in getting a job immediately after completing the course. For example, the course can be paid only after the student finds a job or the money can be refunded if he has not found a job in the first six months after graduation.
The partnership that the suppliers have established with the IT companies also brings an important advantage: the students learn applied things, and the months they spend studying turn into months of experience.
Thus, if you do not have experience or knowledge related to the IT field, it is recommended to thoroughly document the various IT courses with employment, offered by vocational training schools. The more benefits the school offers, the easier it will be for you to find a job and gain the knowledge you need to work in the field.
What jobs can you have in IT?
I mentioned above that not all IT jobs require programming skills. These include jobs as an IT technician, network technician, system administrator, network administrator, network analyst, data analyst, UX designer, QA tester, or IT recruiter.
Jobs that include coding knowledge are jobs such as web developer, front end developer or back end developer, full stack web programmer, game developer or others.
Although there are bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in IT, employing companies do not consider higher education a mandatory requirement to work in this industry. Thus, if you intend to work in IT or are considering a professional retraining, you can take different courses, depending on the niche you want to specialize in, taking into account the positions listed above.
IT schools have partnered with various companies in the field to make it easier for students to access the job market and to help them find a job quickly. Therefore, when you are looking for an IT course, it is advisable to take into account the additional benefits that schools offer, even if this means a higher price.
Beginner IT Jobs – How to Get Started in This Field
If you have just completed an IT course and are looking for a job, you should know that there are companies that do not require extensive experience. Moreover, some companies provide in-house training, along with hiring, to familiarize you with the activity you need to carry out.
A simple OLX search for beginner IT jobs will provide you with a range of jobs for which no experience is required.
On the other hand, if you are in a large company that has an IT department, you can try to request the transfer to that department. If the company does not accept inexperienced people, you can ask to receive some tasks from the department, to get acquainted with the work and to gain the trust of colleagues and bosses.
Another important aspect to discuss for beginners in the IT field is related to their skills in math, physics or other real sciences. IT skills are more related to logic skills, problem-solving skills or attention to detail. At the same time, this profession, like many others, is learned through exercise, constant training and dedication. Whether you are at the beginning of your career or you intend to change your field of activity, you do not need any talent or special skills to work in IT.
We talked about the benefits that an employee working in the IT field can have, but also about how you can specialize to get such a job. Although the courses are quite long, do not be discouraged by this aspect. On the one hand, it is important to give yourself enough time to accumulate completely new knowledge, which you have probably never met before. On the other hand, the months you will spend learning can be counted as months of experience, if, at the time of hiring, you prove to the employer that you have solid knowledge and manage to complete your tasks.
IT domain – how Information Technology is defined
About IT, Wikipedia also mentions, using the names Information Technology or Information and Communication Technology, that “it is the technology needed to process (procure, process, store, convert and transmit) information, in particular by using computers.”
The applications of this industry are wide, covering multiple fields related to data and information, such as: processors, computers, hardware and software, programming languages, data structures and others.
Although it seems like an extremely difficult and complex field, it is important to note what a beginner’s options are and what an IT specialist really does. There are IT areas where advanced programming is not required, and a career in this field is not an impossible task.
The IT field comes not only with challenges, but also with many advantages. Although specialization requires work and perseverance, the benefits you will enjoy later are commensurate. The labor market is still extremely competitive in this sector, and finding a job according to your interests will not be a problem for you.
